Who We Are
At Salish Sea Soapworks, our mission is to create small-batch soaps and body care products that reflect the natural beauty and values of the San Juan Islands. Using island-sourced botanicals and eco-conscious practices, we offer self-care that’s simple, responsible, and deeply connected to place. Whether you're a local or just visiting, our products help you take a little bit of the island with you—thoughtfully and beautifully.
Meet the Owner
It started with a love of lavender, a pinch of sea salt, and a stubborn curiosity. Living on San Juan Island, I wanted to create something that felt like this place—wild and beautiful, but also grounding and good for your skin. So I rolled up my sleeves (and maybe made a bit of a mess) and started making soap in my kitchen. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion: using local ingredients, keeping things sustainable, and helping people gift a little island magic to themselves or someone they love. Salish Sea Soapworks is my way of bottling up that salty breeze, those sun-warmed garden paths, and the quiet joy of living close to the land.
I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but I’ve called San Juan Island home for the past 31 years. I’ve been married to my best friend for 29 years, and together we’ve raised two awesome sons who are now off on their own adventures (hello, empty nest life!).
I’m the kind of person who feels most at home near the water—whether I’m on it, in it, or just enjoying the view. I’ve got a soft spot for cats who act like they run the house, puzzles that somehow take over our only coffee table, and cheering way too loud for the Kraken or the 49’ers. On days I’m not playing with soap, I’m usually working with my husband on one of several house projects in various stages of completion, daydreaming about adventures big and small, or convincing myself I don’t really need to start another 1,000-piece puzzle… while eyeing the box anyway.
